Guy is passionate about realistic, long term approaches to optimum health, top class movement & performance. He has turned this into a style of education that helps clients achieve huge benefits from taking a serious look at where you are going with your health & fitness and how you can get there faster, with long term results and less hassle.
He has been involved professionally in the health and fitness industry for over 12 years, firstly in health clubs and now works independently as a health & performance coach & educator, and writer. Using exercise, nutrition, lifestyle modification and functional diagnostic nutrition laboratory work as a foundation for helping the body reach optimal health, Guy combines this with his initial training as a strength and conditioning coach, corrective exercise therapist and injury prevention specialist. He also works as a professional fitness trainer educator for the Movement Performance Academy. www.moveperform.com
It all started when Guy was involved in array of sports from a young age, playing representative hockey and cricket at junior age groups in the UK. The interest began in the rehabilitation side of things as he started to pick up injuries from all the sport he was playing, why were some people getting injured and others who were doing similar amounts remaining injury free? This initiated a deep and ongoing search into health, nutrition, exercise and human development. Using clinical experience and techniques developed by Osteopaths, Naturopathic doctors, functional diagnostic nutritionists, Chiropractic physicians, movement therapists and health specialists he uses nutrition and exercise to improve the wellbeing of every one of his client’s entire body and mind.
This has led to Guy specialising in bridging the gap between rehab and top athletic performance, understanding how injuries and initial setbacks can impact upon consistency & therefore results. Clients are constantly amazed at what rapid results can be gained from doing a little of the right thing at the right time.
After completing his studies at Newcastle University Guy enrolled on the Premier Diploma for Personal Trainers and Sports Therapists, completing the training in Feb 2000. This was just the start, since then he has embarked upon what many believe to be the most comprehensive level of training in the Health, Exercise and Lifestyle industry. His studies continued at the Corrective High-performance Exercise Kinesiology (C.H.E.K) Institute in California and progressed to the acclaimed Z-Health performance and rehabilitation system where he now holds the top title of Master Trainer. He has also studied manual therapy at degree level for three years. This fits in well with his enthusiasm and continued study of Neurology, Physiology, Exercise Therapy, Manual Therapy, Functional Nutrition, Herbology/Chinese Medicine and martial arts, where he concentrates on the health aspects of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. All this forms a well balanced multi-disciplinary approach to health and fitness. Guy has trained athletes at many levels, from international competition to the recreational levels. He has consulted for title winning hockey and cricket teams and professional golfers here in the UK and overseas in Australia.
